Fire in the Okanagan

Yesterday around 2:30 p.m. a wildfire started in West Kelowna, about 50km from Penticton. Due to high temperatures and strong winds, the fire spreads out quick and already burnt down several houses. About 11'000 people have been evacuated and West Kelowna's Major declared the state of emergency for the area. Highway 97 remains closed between Peachland and Kelowna, since the fire jumped the Highway last night. The air was all smoky this morning. The wind is changing directions almost hourly and we can see the fountain of smoke from our place making its way through the valley.
